International Cooperation Between Středočeská vědecká knihovna v Kladně (SVK), Czechia with Wojewódzka Biblioteka Publiczna im. Emanuela Smołki w Opolu, Poland and Bibliothekscentrum Koblenz, Germany
2008
Initiated by the Central Bohemian Region, the authority of the library (as it had been within its long-term strategy to develop partnerships with the Opole Voivodeship), a framework agreement on cooperation between Středočeská vědecká knihovna v Kladně (SVK) (director: Jiřina Kádnerová) and Wojewódzka Biblioteka Publiczna im. Emanuela Smołki w Opolu (WBP) in Poland (director: Tadeusz Chrobak) was established in February 2008.
6th – 8th May – visit to Opole by J. Kádnerová, director of Metropolitan Theatre in Kladno Blanka Bendlová, and Jiří Skalický – head of the department of culture and heritage (and tourism) of the Office of the Central Bohemian Region.
In the same year, a similar cooperation was started with the State Library Centre of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany as well (German: Bibliotheksecentr Koblenz). The cooperation was initiated by the delegation of the Rhineland-Palatinate state, led by the state’s president Mr Joachim Martes, to the Central Bohemian Region where it also visited the Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno.
As part of the initiated cooperation, the representatives of Bibliothekscentrum in Koblenz visited the Czech Republic as well as Kladno in the same year (5th to 7th November 2009). During the visit, the representatives had a tour of the library as well as of the Office of the Central Bohemian Region in Prague, National Library of the Czech Republic and Municipal Library of Prague. The last day of the visit was dedicated to the tour of the Antonín Dvořák’s Monument in the Vysoká u Příbrami village and also of a very exceptional tour of the private Rusalka mansion which is owned by Antonín Dvořák’s descendants. The guests were taken on the tour by Antonín Dvořák’s grandson himself.
The cooperation of the SVK with both libraries started a long-term and fruitful cooperation which has entailed not only the organisations of mutual visits, but also the exchange of books for the stocks of each library, exchange of information, knowledge, and methodology, and, last but not least, preparation and organisation of professional and cultural programmes for libaries and the public.
